Overview

Photobacterium damselae is a halophilic, Gram-negative rod that causes photobacteriosis (also called fish pasteurellosis) in marine species including sea bass and sea bream. It commonly affects juveniles and adults, with outbreaks often linked to elevated water temperature (>18–20 °C). Clinically one sees fish with abdominal distension/ascites, external haemorrhages, skin ulcers, and internal nodules or necrotic foci in organs such as liver, spleen and kidney.

The Photobacterium damselae Probe-based qPCR Kit (Lyophilized) is a ready-to-use, freeze-dried reagent system for the rapid and sensitive detection of P. damselae DNA in biological samples.
This assay utilizes a probe-based real-time qPCR approach to ensure high specificity and accurate quantification of bacterial load, supporting reliable diagnostics and research in fish health and aquaculture disease monitoring.

Instructions for Use
