Overview

Aeromonas salmonicida is a Gram-negative rod that causes furunculosis—a systemic disease in salmonids. The disease features external signs such as ulcers (“furuncles”), hemorrhages, darkened skin, distended abdomen, and internal signs like swollen kidney/spleen, and haemorrhagic septicemia. Although historically devastating, many aquaculture systems now manage furunculosis with vaccinations and improved husbandry.

The Aeromonas salmonicida Probe-based qPCR Kit (Lyophilized) is a ready-to-use, freeze-dried reagent system for the rapid and sensitive detection of A. salmonicida DNA in biological samples.
