Overview

Piscine Orthoreovirus (PRV) is a dsRNA virus (Family Reoviridae, genus Orthoreovirus) that infects salmonids (e.g., Atlantic salmon, rainbow trout) and is associated with Heart and Skeletal Muscle Inflammation (HSMI) and other conditions. In Atlantic salmon, PRV infection commonly occurs post seawater-transfer and may lead to inflammation of heart and skeletal muscle, reduced condition and in some cases mortality (up to ~20 %). However, many infected fish carry PRV without clinical disease, and the relationship between PRV presence and disease severity is a topic of ongoing research.

The Piscine Orthoreovirus (PRV) Probe-based RT-qPCR Kit (Lyophilized) is a ready-to-use, freeze-dried reagent system for the rapid and sensitive detection of PRV RNA in biological samples.
This assay utilizes a probe-based real-time RT-qPCR approach to ensure high specificity and accurate quantification of viral load, supporting reliable diagnostics and research in fish health and aquaculture disease monitoring.

Instructions for Use
