Sparicotyle chrysophrii, Lyophilized qPCR
Sparicotyle chrysophrii, Lyophilized qPCR
Overview
Sparicotyle chrysophrii is a gill ectoparasitic monogenean (family Microcotylidae) that infects gilthead sea bream and to a lesser extent sea bass, especially during the grow-out phase. All life stages can be affected, though the parasite load and gill damage tend to accumulate in larger fish. Clinically, infections lead to anemia, severe gill lamellar damage (shortening, fusion of secondary lamellae), respiratory distress, lethargy, and reduced growth performance. There is currently no commercial vaccine, and control relies on regular monitoring and bath treatments.
The Sparicotyle chrysophrii Probe-based qPCR Kit (Lyophilized) is a ready-to-use, freeze-dried reagent system for the rapid and sensitive detection of S. chrysophrii DNA in biological samples.
This assay utilizes a probe-based real-time qPCR approach to ensure high specificity and accurate quantification of parasite load, supporting reliable diagnostics and research in fish health and aquaculture disease monitoring.
Each lyophilized reaction bead is pre-formulated with all essential components — DNA polymerase, dNTPs, optimized buffer, and fluorescent probe mix — ensuring consistent performance and eliminating the need for cold-chain logistics.
Key Features
- Specific and Sensitive: Designed for accurate detection of S. chrysophrii DNA using TaqMan-style probe chemistry.
- Lyophilized & Ready-to-Use: Each reaction bead contains all reagents; simply add nuclease-free water and DNA template.
- Room-Temperature Stable: Maintain stability for up to 12 months without refrigeration.
- Fast and Reliable: Compatible with standard real-time PCR instruments for efficient workflows.
- Convenient Format: Ideal for field testing, laboratories with limited cold storage, and routine surveillance programs.
Applications
- Detection and quantification of S. chrysophrii in fish tissue (gills), gill swabs, or environmental samples
- Aquaculture health monitoring and outbreak investigation (e.g., gill monogenean infestations)
- Research use in parasitology, epidemiology, and treatment efficacy studies
